The fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 will be held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi, India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), Dwarka, New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the event on September 17.

According to the Press Information Bureau, the three-day conference and exhibition will bring together government representatives, global and Indian semiconductor companies, industry experts, investors, academia, startups and students. The event is jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and SEMI, the global semiconductor industry association.

This year’s edition is themed “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem” and will focus on manufacturing, technology, supply chains, design, innovation, policy, talent and other areas linked to the semiconductor and electronics industry.

Semiconductor Mission and Semicon 2.0

The event comes as India’s semiconductor programme moves into its next phase. The government has approved 12 projects under Semicon 1.0 as part of efforts to build a robust and resilient semiconductor ecosystem in the country.

Of these 12 projects, 3 have commenced commercial production, according to S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY).

The Union Cabinet has also approved Semicon 2.0, the next phase of the programme, with 6 major pillars aimed at accelerating development of the semiconductor ecosystem.

The government is also supporting semiconductor research, innovation and design. State-of-the-art design tools have been provided to more than 332 academic institutes and 105 start-ups. In addition, 24 start-ups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme.

Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, MeitY and CEO, ISM, said the global semiconductor requirement is expected to rise from around $1 trillion to $2 trillion, while India’s semiconductor requirement is expected to increase from around $100 billion to $200 billion.

Global Companies to Participate

SEMICON India 2026 will feature industry leaders from companies including ASML, Applied Materials, Teradyne, Infineon, Ebara, Jabil, IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Merck KGaA, Rapidus, Lam Research, CG Power, Uno Minda, Advantest, Inox Air Products, SEMI, HORIBA STEC, SCREEN, Everspin Technologies, Brewer Science, Polar Semiconductor, Tokyo Electron and Emergence AI, among others.

SEMI President and CEO Ajit Manocha said India has an opportunity to become an integral part of the global semiconductor supply chain, while SEMICON India 2026 is intended to support that ambition.

Ashok Chandak, President, SEMI India and IESA, said the event will showcase India’s developing semiconductor value chain. He also highlighted the introduction of the new “Sand to Silicon to Systems” Value Chain Experience at this year’s exhibition.

The event is being organised by ISM, MeitY and SEMI and will serve as a platform for discussions, collaboration and innovation across the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.

Visitor registration for SEMICON India 2026 is now open through the official registration portal.
