Rubio Warns on Iran Oil Trade After India Protests Sailor Deaths

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to discuss recent developments in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the US State Department.

During the call, Jaishankar strongly protested the deaths of Indian nationals in recent US attacks on ships operating off the coast of Oman. He said such lethal actions against commercial shipping are not justified.

Rubio stressed that all commercial vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz should immediately comply with instructions issued by US forces, which Washington says are aimed at maintaining peace and security in the region.

The US Secretary also warned that violations of the American blockade and the illicit transport of Iranian oil through the Strait of Hormuz would not be tolerated.

According to the State Department, Washington remains committed to enforcing its restrictions on Iranian oil shipments and ensuring compliance from commercial vessels transiting the strategic waterway.

The diplomatic exchange comes ahead of a planned meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump at the G7 Summit in France next week, where regional security and maritime trade routes are expected to be key topics of discussion.
