Trump Unveils ‘Trump Accounts’, Urges Buying Dell PCs

U.S. President Donald Trump spoke at a White House event on July 6, where he promoted new “Trump accounts”, tax-advantaged savings accounts for children under 18. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the program is designed to give young Americans an economic foundation, adding that about 6 million U.S. children have already registered. Trump also said he is discussing with Congress a new account type for adults.

During the event, Trump highlighted a pledge of more than $6 billion from Michael and Susan Dell to support the Trump accounts. He publicly encouraged people to buy Dell computers and also thanked Micron. Trump added that tariffs are encouraging companies to invest in the United States, praised Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and said U.S. markets would continue to soar.

On foreign policy, Trump said the United States has good relations with Venezuela and Iran, while reiterating that Iran must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons. He said the U.S. is not seeking regime change in Iran, has secured concessions, and prefers reaching a deal rather than “finishing the job.” Trump also stated that the U.S. has not provided any funds to Iran.

Discussing the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump said negotiations are underway to see whether the conflict can be ended and that he believes the war is getting closer to an end. He revealed that he had a “very good call” with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said he would discuss Ukraine with NATO, and described the situation as more urgent than many people realize. Trump also said he believes Putin is feeling pressure.

Donald Trump said the U.S. will either reach a deal with Iran or “finish the job,” insisting it would be quick to destroy key infrastructure if necessary. He said he prefers a deal because he does not want to harm Iran’s 91 million people.

Trump said the U.S. could rapidly destroy Iran’s bridges, energy facilities, electricity and power plants. He also called the Strait of Hormuz a major source of global wealth and trade.

Trump added that his main objective is to ensure Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon. He said he is not seeking regime change, but remarked that recent developments amount to “regime change.”

Trump also commented on football during the event, confirming he had spoken with FIFA President Gianni Infantino. He praised Infantino, said FIFA made the right decision overall, but criticized the referee’s red-card decision against Balogun, calling it terrible. Trump said he did not tell FIFA what to do but asked the organization to review the red card before concluding his White House remarks.
