Macron Leaves Door Open to Troop Deployment in Ukraine Amid Russian Threat

French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that he doesn’t dismiss the possibility of deploying troops to Ukraine.

Macron emphasized that such a decision would be considered legitimate if Russia were to breach Ukrainian front lines and if Kyiv formally requested such assistance.

In an interview with the Economist published on Thursday, Macron reiterated his stance, noting the need to respond to a situation where Russia’s actions remain unpredictable.

He referenced his earlier remarks, made earlier in the year, which caused significant concern across Europe, where he initially broached the idea of Western troop deployment.

Macron’s position underscores the gravity of the situation and the imperative for preparedness in the face of potential escalations involving Russia and Ukraine.

Recently, Democratic Leader of the US House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, has indicated that the possibility of the US sending troops to Ukraine cannot be dismissed if Kiev faces defeat in the ongoing conflict.

Jeffries emphasized the importance of preventing Ukraine from falling, as he believes that such an outcome could lead to the United States becoming directly involved in the conflict, potentially necessitating the deployment of American servicewomen and servicemen.

Speaking in an interview with CBS television, Jeffries underscored the gravity of the situation, highlighting that the involvement of the US might extend beyond financial support to include military intervention if Ukraine’s situation deteriorates significantly.
