Elon Musk on Track to Become World’s First Trillionaire by 2027, Report Says

According to a new report from Informa Connect Academy, Elon Musk is on course to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027. Musk, the CEO of electric vehicle company Tesla, space exploration company SpaceX, and social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), has seen his wealth grow at an average annual rate of 110%. As of the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk is the world’s richest person with a net worth of $251 billion.

The academy’s 2024 Trillion Dollar Club report suggests that Musk’s rapid wealth growth could make him the first person ever to reach a net worth of $1 trillion. Following Musk, Indian business tycoon Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, could become the second individual to join the trillionaire club by 2028 if his wealth continues to grow at a rate of 123% annually. Adani’s net worth is currently estimated at $99.6 billion, placing him 13th on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Other billionaires who may also reach trillionaire status by 2028 include Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang and Indonesian energy magnate Prajogo Pangestu, if their wealth trajectories continue at the current pace. Bernard Arnault, the CEO of luxury goods company LVMH, and Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, are both expected to surpass the $1 trillion mark by 2030. Arnault is currently the world’s third-richest person, with a net worth of about $200 billion.

As businesses continue to grow and expand, several companies have already crossed the $1 trillion valuation mark. Most recently, Berkshire Hathaway hit the milestone in late August 2023, just days before its CEO, Warren Buffett, celebrated his 94th birthday. Tech giant Nvidia joined the $1 trillion club in May 2023, reaching a valuation of $3 trillion a month later, placing it alongside Microsoft and Apple as one of the world’s most valuable companies.

In contrast, Indian industrialist Gautam Adani, known for his leadership of one of the country’s largest business conglomerates, the Adani Group, is expected to become India’s first trillionaire by 2028. His net worth is projected to reach $1 trillion, equivalent to about ₹84 lakh crore, if current growth trends persist. Adani was previously ranked as Asia’s wealthiest person and continues to be a dominant figure in the global business world.

As global markets evolve, and wealth continues to accumulate among top industry leaders, it’s clear that the race to become the world’s first trillionaire will remain a topic of fascination for years to come.

Conclusion

Elon Musk’s rapid wealth growth, coupled with significant advancements in technology and global industries, has positioned him as the frontrunner to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027. Following closely behind are other influential business leaders, including Gautam Adani, who may join the trillionaire club in the coming years.
