In November 2023, China saw a 27.4% increase in the sales of passenger vehicles, a good sign for the car industry that has been facing challenges due to the pandemic. This boost is thanks to the government’s push for eco-friendly cars and clearing out older vehicles that don’t meet emission standards.

People are more interested in buying cars because of promotions, discounts, and government support, especially for new energy vehicles. The winter season also sees a slight increase in car purchases. The government’s events like the “Hundred-city Coordination” auto festival and “Thousand Counties Ten Thousand Towns” for new energy vehicles are contributing to the positive trend.

The China Auto Industry Association (CAAM) official has stated that vehicle sales in China for 2024 are expected to increase by 4.4% year-on-year, reaching 25.8 million units, as reported by state media.

While things are looking up for now, the car industry’s future success depends on how well these efforts continue to work and how people’s preferences may change over time.
