Donald Trump made a series of statements on Iran, military readiness, oil markets, and nuclear weapons, combining strong warnings with signals of possible negotiations.
Trump said nuclear weapons are far worse than oil at $200 per barrel and stressed that such weapons should never be used by anyone. He rejected using nuclear weapons against Iran and called related questions “stupid.”
On the conflict, Trump said he does not think it will last very long but added “don’t rush me” when asked about timing. He claimed Iran’s military is “totally defeated” and said the U.S. has hit about 75% of its targets. He also warned Iran may have reloaded during a two week pause.
Trump highlighted strong U.S. military readiness, saying ships are “locked and loaded” and ready to act. He warned that if Iran does not move oil, its infrastructure could be targeted. He also said the U.S. would act against Iranian small boats when seen and claimed full control over the Strait.
Speaking about Iran’s internal situation, Trump said the country is in turmoil, with leadership fighting for control. He added that Iran is struggling economically and cannot do business due to blockades.
Despite the tough stance, Trump said Iran wants a deal and that talks are ongoing. He said he could make a deal immediately but wants one that is “everlasting.” He added that the U.S. is giving Iran time to resolve its internal issues.
On oil, Trump said prices turned out different than expected and noted he had earlier thought crude could reach $200 per barrel. He also mentioned that ships are supplying oil from the U.S.
Trump said the Strait would open once Iran agrees to a deal or “something else happens,” indicating both diplomatic and military options remain open.
He also mentioned that the Navy Secretary was dismissed due to disagreements, including issues related to shipbuilding and conflicts with other officials.
