Early Tuesday morning, a tragic accident occurred at a Delta Air Lines maintenance facility near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. A tire on a Boeing 757 aircraft exploded during routine maintenance, leading to the deaths of two employees and injuring another.

The incident took place around 5 a.m. at the Delta TechOps hangar, located on Maynard H. Jackson Jr. Boulevard near the airport’s international terminal. The explosion prompted an immediate response from multiple units of the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and the police.

Delta Air Lines has confirmed the incident and is cooperating with authorities as they investigate the cause of the explosion. The injured employee was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, though their condition has not yet been disclosed.

This tragic event has shocked the community, and Delta Air Lines expressed its deep sorrow, stating that their thoughts are with the families of the affected employees. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to be released as they become available.

The aircraft involved, with the tail number N683DA, had arrived in Atlanta after a flight from Las Vegas on Sunday.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens mentioned that multiple agencies were on the scene to handle the situation. “My deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased Delta employees,” he said.
