Tata Electronics confirmed that it recently detected a cybersecurity incident on some of its systems. The company said it acted immediately and that all business operations remain unaffected.
A ransomware group called World Leaks claimed responsibility for the attack and allegedly leaked more than 204,300 files totaling over 630GB of data on the dark web.
The leaked data reportedly includes engineering documents, supplier specifications, manufacturing records, email logs, SAP records, and other internal company files.
Some of the documents are said to contain confidential information related to Apple and Tesla. Files reviewed by cybersecurity researchers reportedly carried Apple confidentiality notices and Tesla trade-secret markings.
Apple is investigating whether any of its information was exposed in the breach. Reports also suggest Tata Electronics received a ransom demand, though the company declined to comment on it.
Tata Electronics informed some employees about the data breach last week. However, the company has not disclosed what specific data was compromised or how many people or organizations may have been affected.
Founded in 2020, Tata Electronics has become a major manufacturing partner for global technology companies. It employs more than 75,000 people in India and plays a key role in Apple’s India production, while also supplying components and semiconductor products to companies including Tesla, Intel, Qualcomm, and ASML.
