According to the outage tracking website Downdetector, over a thousand users have reported problems with the service, indicating widespread disruptions.
OpenAI Acknowledges the Problem
OpenAI has confirmed the outage on its official Status page. The page mentions that both ChatGPT and its API are facing “Degraded performance.” Additionally, OpenAI has posted a message stating, “We are currently experiencing elevated error rates in the API. We are currently investigating.”

Of the user complaints received, approximately 88% reported being unable to access the ChatGPT tool, while the remaining users mentioned difficulties with the website and API.
