Rubin Architecture: The Next Step After Blackwell
The Rubin architecture represents the next big step in NVIDIA’s GPU roadmap, following the highly successful Blackwell series. According to the company, the Rubin-based Vera Rubin system includes six advanced chips that are now in the maturation phase, preparing for a market launch.
Strong Demand Before Market Release
Even before its official release, NVIDIA is already seeing demand for “several gigawatts” worth of Vera Rubin systems from global customers. This early interest highlights how Rubin is positioned to become a key driver for large-scale AI, data centers, and high-performance computing applications.
Innovation Cadence and NVLink 5
NVIDIA continues to follow its one-year innovation cadence strategy, with a focus on scale out, scale up, and scale across system designs. Rubin will also leverage NVLink 5 technology, which allows for rack-scale systems with up to 72 GPUs. This interconnect technology was crucial in boosting the performance of the Blackwell GPUs and is expected to be just as important for Rubin.
