Birmingham police officer Truman Fitzgerald confirmed that officers arrived on the scene to find two adult males and one adult female unresponsive on the sidewalk, all suffering from gunshot wounds. Sadly, all three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth victim later died at a local hospital.

Fitzgerald also reported that at least four of the wounded victims are facing life-threatening injuries, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries. No suspects have been taken into custody yet, and authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help in the investigation.

Several agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), are involved in the investigation.

Fire rescue services were also on the scene and cordoned off the area as part of the ongoing investigation.

This tragic event adds to the growing number of mass shootings in the United States. According to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), there have been at least 403 mass shootings in the U.S. this year, which are defined as shootings involving four or more victims. Additionally, the GVA reports that over 12,416 people have died due to gun violence across the country in 2024.

As investigations continue, authorities are calling on anyone with information to assist in bringing the shooters to justice.
