China’s State Council Information Office has released a detailed white paper titled “Covid-19 Prevention, Control and Origins Tracing: China’s Actions and Stance.” The document outlines China’s position on the origins of COVID-19, its global response efforts, and criticism of how the U.S. handled the pandemic.

The white paper contains three main chapters (besides the preface and conclusion):

1. Contributing Chinese Wisdom to the Study of the Origins of SARS-CoV-2

This section explains China’s cooperation with global scientists and the World Health Organization (WHO) in tracing the origins of the virus. China claims it has always supported scientific, unbiased investigations and has shared data transparently.

2. China’s Contribution to the Global Fight Against COVID-19

This chapter highlights China’s domestic and international efforts, such as lockdown measures, vaccine development, and medical aid to other countries. It states that China provided over 2 billion vaccine doses and shared technical know-how with over 100 nations.

3. The Mismanaged Response of the US to the COVID-19 Pandemic

China criticizes the U.S. for what it calls a “chaotic and irresponsible” response to the pandemic. It accuses the U.S. government of politicizing the virus, delaying effective control, and failing to protect its citizens.

Key Statements:

“The next step in origin-tracing work should focus on the United States.”

“The U.S. should not continue to pretend to be deaf and dumb, but respond to global concerns.”

“Washington must share its early COVID-19 case data with the WHO and offer transparency to the international community.”

The white paper calls for a fair and science-based investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and urges all countries to avoid political manipulation of the issue.
