Kim Jong-un Oversees Testing of North Korea's New Kamikaze Drones

In a significant development in North Korea’s military capabilities, Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un personally supervised the testing of at least four new models of kamikaze drones over the weekend. The tests were conducted by the Drone Research Institute of North Korea’s Academy of Defense Sciences, a leading institution in the country’s military advancements.

During the tests, the drones, also referred to as “suicide drones,” successfully completed their missions by destroying designated targets, including a mock tank. These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) followed preset routes with precision, showcasing their potential effectiveness in combat scenarios.

Kim Jong-un’s visit to the Drone Institute was marked by his directive to accelerate the development of more advanced suicide drones. This comes amid growing emphasis on enhancing North Korea’s drone warfare capabilities, which are seen as a crucial element in the nation’s defense strategy.

Adding to this, North Korea has reportedly received its first batch of Iranian-made Omid drones. These high-speed, stealthy loitering UAVs are capable of targeting both stationary and moving objectives, further bolstering North Korea’s drone arsenal.

The introduction of the Omid drones and the ongoing development of domestic suicide drones underscore North Korea’s commitment to advancing its military technology, particularly in the realm of unmanned aerial warfare. As tensions in the region continue to simmer, these developments are likely to draw significant attention from global defense analysts.
