A fire broke out at the Novatek terminal, Russia’s second-largest natural gas producer, situated in the Ust-Luga port, as confirmed by Alexander Drozdenko, the governor of the region.


The incident, reported by the Russian agency Tass, occurred approximately 110 kilometers from St. Petersburg, near the border with Estonia.

Governor Drozdenko assured that there were no casualties resulting from the fire at the Novatek terminal in Ust-Luga. He mentioned that the staff had been successfully evacuated, and the Kingisepp district is currently on maximum alert.

Governor did not disclose the causes of the fire, leaving the circumstances surrounding the incident unreported.
