Delta Flight DL581: Mechanical Issue Prompts Emergency Landing in Aruba

Delta flight DL581, carrying 168 passengers, had to perform an emergency landing in Aruba due to a mechanical problem.

The pilot of the Boeing 737-900 circled the Caribbean island four times before making a safe landing due to a “mechanical issue.”

According to a spokesperson from the airline, DailyMail.com was informed that the aircraft had 168 passengers, four flight attendants, and two pilots on board. Passengers had to spend an extra night in Aruba before being flown out on Wednesday.

A spokesperson stated that Delta flight DL581 from Aruba to Atlanta encountered a mechanical problem shortly after takeoff. It safely returned to the gate without any issues. “Delta teams are focused on swiftly and safely transporting our customers to their destinations, apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the delay in their travels.”

A passenger shared their experience on Reddit, mentioning that during takeoff, one of the engines experienced a malfunction, leading to the aircraft circling Aruba

One passenger noted that Delta took care of hotel accommodations and meals during the delay. Another passenger recounted hearing a ‘loud boom’ shortly after the flight departed.

“It sounded like it occurred immediately after the landing gear retracted. Initially, I thought one side of the gear might have gotten stuck and retracted late.”
