Kremlin Rejects Zelenskiy’s 30-Day Ceasefire Proposal, Accuses Kyiv of Manipulation

Kremlin has rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, saying it is impossible without properly addressing all related issues. Russian news agency RIA reported the Kremlin’s response, highlighting that the matter is more complex than just agreeing to a temporary halt in fighting.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin also reacted to French President Emmanuel Macron’s warning about increasing pressure on Russia over the Ukraine conflict. Moscow criticized Paris, saying it seems France is not paying attention to President Vladimir Putin’s recent statements about Ukraine. This points to a growing divide between French and Russian views on the war.

In addition, the Kremlin accused Ukraine of manipulating Russia’s ceasefire offer. According to the TASS news agency, Russian officials claimed that Kyiv avoided giving a clear answer to Moscow’s proposal, interpreting Ukraine’s actions as evasive and dishonest.

Earlier on Monday, President Putin announced a temporary ceasefire from May 8 to May 11 to observe Russia’s public holidays. However, the Kremlin warned that any violations of the ceasefire by Ukraine would trigger a response.

Despite the rising tensions, the Kremlin emphasized that Russia remains open to peace talks with Ukraine, stating that they are ready to negotiate without any preconditions.
