U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced that he will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone on Monday at 10:00 a.m. The main topics of the conversation will be ending the ongoing war in Ukraine and discussing trade.
Trump said the war is causing the deaths of more than 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers each week. After speaking with President Putin, Trump plans to talk with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He will then join discussions with Zelenskyy and other NATO leaders.
Trump expressed hope for a productive day that could lead to a ceasefire. He said the goal is to end the violent war, which he believes should never have started.
“God bless us all,” Trump concluded.
