The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released its RBI Weekly Statistical Supplement on July 31, 2026, providing updated data on foreign exchange reserves, bank deposits, money supply and liquidity operations. The bulletin contains figures up to July 24, 2026, along with weekly, financial-year and year-on-year changes.
India’s total foreign exchange reserves stood at ₹65,87,915 crore (US$682,354 million) as of July 24, 2026. The reserves increased by ₹76,752 crore (US$6,118 million) during the week. Compared with the end of March 2026, reserves declined by ₹34,054 crore (US$8,753 million), while the year-on-year change showed an increase of ₹5,47,035 crore and a decline of US$15,838 million.
Foreign currency assets were reported at ₹53,67,324 crore (US$555,929 million). Gold reserves stood at ₹9,94,988 crore (US$103,058 million), while Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) were recorded at ₹1,79,746 crore (US$18,617 million). India’s reserve position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was ₹45,857 crore (US$4,750 million).
Banking deposits and credit
According to the bulletin, aggregate deposits of scheduled commercial banks stood at ₹2,62,84,574 crore as of July 15, 2026. Deposits declined by ₹2,59,710 crore during the fortnight. Financial-year growth for 2026-27 was ₹55,787 crore, while year-on-year growth reached ₹29,58,868 crore, representing an increase of 12.7%.
Bank credit stood at ₹2,17,33,383 crore. Credit declined by ₹1,97,015 crore during the fortnight but increased by ₹3,73,486 crore in the current financial year. Year-on-year growth in bank credit for 2026 stood at ₹32,63,490 crore, reflecting growth of 17.7%.
Food credit was reported at ₹1,20,730 crore, while non-food credit stood at ₹2,16,12,652 crore.
Money supply and liquidity operations
The RBI Weekly Statistical Supplement showed that M3 money stock stood at ₹3,16,46,426 crore on July 15, 2026, compared with ₹3,14,53,126 crore on March 31, 2026. During the fortnight, M3 declined by ₹2,46,894 crore, or 0.8%.
On a year-on-year basis, M3 increased by ₹35,05,170 crore, representing growth of 12.5%. Currency with the public stood at ₹42,12,008 crore, while demand deposits with banks were ₹33,44,685 crore. Time deposits with banks were reported at ₹2,39,68,560 crore, and other deposits with the Reserve Bank stood at ₹1,21,173 crore.
The liquidity operations data showed net absorption by the RBI throughout the week. Net absorption stood at ₹80,380 crore on July 20, ₹92,689 crore on July 21, ₹1,22,135 crore on July 22, ₹1,83,572 crore on July 23, ₹1,79,338 crore on July 24, ₹1,74,733 crore on July 25 and ₹1,75,382 crore on July 26, 2026.
