Trump and Putin Discuss Potential Ceasefire in Ukraine, Call Going Well

A phone conversation between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin about a possible ceasefire in Ukraine started on Tuesday, and the White House reported that it was going “well.”

The call began at 1400 GMT and lasted for nearly an hour, according to Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, who shared the update on X. He mentioned that the call was still ongoing and going well so far.

Russia and Ukraine Exchange Airstrikes Despite Partial Ceasefire Agreement

Russia and Ukraine accused each other of carrying out air attacks early Wednesday. These attacks caused fires and damaged important infrastructure. This happened just a few hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a partial ceasefire in the war.

Putin decided to temporarily stop targeting Ukraine’s energy facilities. However, he did not agree to a full 30-day ceasefire. U.S. President Donald Trump had hoped for a complete ceasefire as the first step toward long-term peace, but Putin refused to go that far.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had agreed to the full ceasefire. After Trump’s discussion with Putin, Zelenskiy said he would accept the limited ceasefire but warned the world to stop Russia from prolonging the war.

Despite the agreement, both countries reported fresh attacks just hours later. Andriy Yermak, Zelenskiy’s chief of staff, said on Telegram that Russia was attacking civilian areas and people at that very moment.

In Sumy, a region in northeastern Ukraine, Russian drone strikes hit two hospitals. Although no one was injured, patients and medical staff had to be evacuated for safety.

Meanwhile, in the Kyiv region, which surrounds Ukraine’s capital, a 60-year-old man was injured in a Russian drone attack. Several houses were also damaged, according to the regional governor, Mykola Kalashnyk.

Zelenskiy stated that after Putin and Trump’s conversation, Russia launched more than 40 drones against Ukraine, causing further destruction.

Kremlin Accuses Ukraine of Breaking Energy Strike Agreement After Halting Its Own Attack

The Kremlin says it stopped its own planned attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure after a phone call between President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Russia confirms it shot down seven of its own drones that were heading toward Ukraine.

Russia accuses Ukraine of not respecting a mutual agreement to avoid attacks on each other’s energy infrastructure.

The Kremlin claims Ukraine attempted to strike Russian energy facilities.

Russia says Ukraine had enough time to stop its attacks but chose not to.

Moscow views Ukraine’s attacks as an effort to undermine the agreement between both sides.

The Kremlin claims Ukraine’s leaders are clearly unwilling to negotiate a deal, which is a cause for concern.

Russia says Ukraine’s overnight attacks on its energy facilities prove Kyiv is not serious about reaching a peace agreement.
