Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal will lead a high-level Indian business delegation to Spain, Belgium and Finland from July 13 to 17, 2026, as India steps up efforts to strengthen its economic partnership with the European Union. The visit will focus on trade, investment, technology, innovation and sustainability, with participation from leading Indian companies in advanced manufacturing, clean energy, digital technologies, gems and jewellery, food processing, healthcare and design.
In Spain on July 13, Goyal will hold bilateral meetings with First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Carlos Cuerpo Caballero, Minister of Industry and Tourism Jordi Hereu Boher, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares Bueno. He will also chair the India-Spain Business Roundtable and take part in a business session with the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, CEOE and ICEX Spain Trade & Investment, covering sectors such as automotive, renewable energy, railways, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, food processing and tourism. The visit will also coincide with the Spain-India Dual Year 2026, marking 70 years of diplomatic relations.
During his visit to Belgium on July 14 and 15, Goyal will visit the Port of Antwerp and the Antwerp World Diamond Centre. He will hold CEO-level meetings with Alain Queverin of Thales Group and Jean-Christophe Bogaert of Silox Group. He will also participate in the India-EU Business Roundtable and co-chair the third India-EU Trade and Technology Council Ministerial Meeting alongside the External Affairs Minister and the Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology.
On the sidelines of the Trade and Technology Council meeting in Brussels, Goyal is expected to meet the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Council and the Prime Minister of Belgium. He will also hold bilateral talks with Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy and Agriculture David Clarinval, and European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič, besides interacting with European industry leaders through the India-Belgium Business Roundtable.
In Finland on July 16 and 17, Goyal will visit at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Finland. He is scheduled to meet Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Sakari Puisto and participate in the India-Finland Business Roundtable. An MoU between CII and Business Finland will be signed during the visit. Goyal will also visit Nokia Corporation, VTT Research Centre, KONE Corporation and the Kemppi Group to explore cooperation in telecom infrastructure, 6G research, smart mobility, advanced manufacturing, industrial machinery, EV charging infrastructure, frontier technologies, sustainable mobility, industrial innovation and investment.
The Indian delegation will include companies such as Borosil Renewables, Motherson Group, Trivitron Healthcare, Hari Krishna Exports and Nekkanti Seafoods. The visit comes as India and the European Union continue efforts toward the early implementation of the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement, with discussions expected to focus on trade, investment, resilient supply chains, clean energy, innovation, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies.
