Pakistan Attacks Indian Civilian and Religious Sites; India Responds Responsibly

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that Pakistan targeted religious places and civilian areas in Jammu early Saturday morning. According to an official statement, multiple armed drones were sent overnight by Pakistan, posing a serious threat to civilians and places of worship like the well-known Shambhu Temple.

The Indian Armed Forces remain alert and ready to defend the country. The Defence Ministry stated:

“Pakistan continued its hostilities on 10 May 2025 by targeting places of worship and residential areas in Jammu. Multiple armed drones have been sent through the night, endangering civilians and religious sites. The Indian Armed Forces remain vigilant and are committed to defending the sovereignty of the nation.”

A special media briefing was held with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.

Pakistan’s Attacks Seen as Provocative

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Pakistan’s actions were provocative and escalatory. He stated:

“It is Pakistani actions that have constituted provocations and escalations. India has responded in a responsible and measured way. This morning was yet another example of such a pattern from Pakistan.”

He also condemned attacks on religious places and civilians, calling for accurate information and restraint.

Military Bases and Civilian Areas Targeted

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said that Pakistan launched a coordinated attack on 26 Indian cities, mainly focusing on military and civilian infrastructure.

She confirmed the use of drones, fighter jets, loitering munitions, and high-speed missiles. Key air force bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda were targeted, especially at 1:40 AM in Punjab, where high-speed missiles were used.

She also said:

“They attacked schools, hospitals, and tried to infiltrate Indian airspace at more than 26 locations.”

India was able to thwart most of the attacks, but some damage was done to equipment and personnel.

India Responds with Precision Strikes Amid Ongoing Pakistani Aggression on Western Front

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi stated that Pakistan’s aggressive military actions continue along the entire Western front. She reported the use of UCAV drones, long-range weapons, heavy ammunition, and fighter jets targeting Indian Army infrastructure. Intense firing was observed along the Line of Control (LoC), where Pakistani jets attempted intrusions at more than 26 locations along both the LoC and the International Border (IB). While Indian forces successfully neutralised most of these incursions, some damage was inflicted at key air force stations in Udhampur, Pathankot, Bhuj, and Bathinda. Notably, a high-speed missile struck Punjab’s air base at around 1:40 AM.

She further added that Pakistan attacked medical facilities in Srinagar, Avantipura, and Udhampur, calling it a violation of humanitarian norms. However, she confirmed that India has given a befitting reply to these hostile acts.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh also addressed the media, stating that the Indian Armed Forces responded swiftly with calibrated and precise strikes, strictly targeting only identified Pakistani military infrastructure. She strongly denied Pakistan’s false claims of destroying India’s S-400 air defence system and airfields in Surat and Sirsa, calling it part of an ongoing misinformation campaign.

Limited Damage at Indian Bases

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that limited damage occurred at the Pathankot and Udhampur air bases, and Indian forces managed to stop many of the threats in time.

Pakistan Moving Troops Forward

India has observed that Pakistan is moving troops closer to the border, possibly to increase tensions further. Despite these actions, India has responded carefully and responsibly, according to Foreign Secretary Misri.

India Rejects Pakistani Claim About S-400 System

India’s Press Information Bureau has also dismissed a Pakistani claim that it destroyed an Indian S-400 air defence system, calling it false and misleading.

Summary:

Pakistan attacked religious sites and civilian areas in Jammu.

26 Indian cities were targeted using drones, missiles, and jets.

India successfully defended most locations with minimal damage.

India’s response has been measured and focused on militant targets.

Tensions remain high as Pakistan moves troops to forward areas.
