Netanyahu Says Iran Tried to Kill Trump Twice During 2024 Campaign, Warns of Growing Nuclear Threat

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in his first interview since Israel’s recent military strikes on Iran, made serious claims against the Iranian regime. Speaking to Fox News, Netanyahu said that Iran attempted to assassinate U.S. President Donald Trump twice during the 2024 election campaign. According to him, Tehran sees Trump as its biggest obstacle to developing nuclear weapons.

“They want to kill him. He’s enemy number one,” Netanyahu told Fox News, adding that the Iranian regime chants slogans like “Death to America” and actively targeted Trump for elimination.

Netanyahu also revealed that he himself was nearly killed in a missile strike that landed in his bedroom, which he said was carried out by the same regime. He referred to himself as Trump’s “junior partner” in the fight against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Israel Facing a Serious Threat

Netanyahu warned that Israel is under a growing and immediate nuclear threat from Iran. He said his government had no choice but to act before it was too late.

“We were facing an imminent, dual existential threat,” Netanyahu explained. He said the first threat was Iran’s rapid move to convert enriched uranium into nuclear weapons. The second threat was the massive expansion of Iran’s ballistic missile program.

According to him, Iran could soon produce up to 3,600 ballistic missiles a year—each weighing about one ton and capable of flying at six times the speed of sound. He warned that within three years, Iran could have up to 10,000 such missiles, and in 26 years, the number could grow to 20,000.

“No country, especially one as small as Israel, can survive that kind of threat,” he said.

Operation Rising Lion and Iran’s Retaliation

Israel responded with a large-scale military operation, which Netanyahu called “Operation Rising Lion.” He described it as one of the biggest military actions in Israel’s history. Israel claims the mission was carried out to defend itself and to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power.

In response, Iran fired several ballistic missiles at Israeli cities. Many of these were intercepted by Israeli defense systems, though some did cause damage.

Netanyahu said the recent Israeli attacks had “set back Iran’s nuclear program quite a bit,” and criticized efforts to negotiate with the Iranian government. He called it a “terror-sponsoring regime” and said that talks had led nowhere.

A Message to the Iranian People

Netanyahu ended the interview with a message for the people of Iran. He said they have suffered under the same oppressive regime for over five decades and suggested that they, too, are victims of their government’s dangerous ambitions.

He made it clear that Israel is ready to take any steps needed to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons and creating a global threat.
