The government has approved Rs 5,547.99 crore of MSP procurement for pulses and oilseeds under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27 in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. Separately, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved higher MSPs for all mandated Rabi crops for Marketing Season 2027-28.

Both decisions were announced on September 30, 2026, through the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

Rabi Crop MSP Increased for 2027-28

The highest increase among the Rabi crops has been approved for safflower, whose MSP will rise by Rs 675 per quintal to Rs 7,215. Rapeseed and mustard MSP will increase by Rs 413 to Rs 6,613, while lentil (masur) MSP will rise by Rs 390 to Rs 7,390 per quintal.

Wheat MSP has been increased by Rs 25 to Rs 2,610 per quintal. Barley will rise by Rs 136 to Rs 2,286, while gram MSP will increase by Rs 83 to Rs 5,958.

The expected margin over the all-India weighted average cost of production is 106% for wheat, 96% for rapeseed and mustard, 92% for lentil, 59% for gram, 58% for barley and 50% for safflower.

The government said the revised MSPs are intended to provide remunerative prices to growers and encourage crop diversification.

Rs 5,547.99 Crore MSP Procurement Approved

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved MSP procurement worth Rs 5,547.99 crore for pulses and oilseeds under the PSS.

In Uttar Pradesh, procurement worth Rs 3,992.57 crore has been approved. This includes 4,66,000 metric tonnes of tur valued at Rs 3,937.70 crore and 6,250 metric tonnes of moong valued at Rs 54.87 crore.

In Karnataka, Rs 1,107 crore has been approved for 1,15,500 metric tonnes of soybean, 38,250 metric tonnes of moong and 13,413 metric tonnes of sunflower.

In Telangana, procurement worth Rs 448.42 crore has been approved, covering 62,000 metric tonnes of soybean and 10,766 metric tonnes of moong.

Across the three states, the approved procurement will cover 7.06 lakh MT of pulses and oilseeds at MSP.

The government said the procurement is aimed at protecting farmers from market price declines while encouraging domestic production of pulses and oilseeds.
