MSEI Announces Live Trading on Sunday February 1 2026 for Union Budget

The Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSEI) has announced that it will remain open for live trading on Sunday February 1 2026 due to the presentation of the Union Budget 2026.

February 1 usually falls on a market holiday when it is a Sunday. However this year MSEI has decided to conduct a full live trading session to allow market participation during the Budget announcement.

Why is MSEI Open on Sunday February 1 2026

MSEI said the decision was taken because the Union Budget 2026 will be presented on February 1. To ensure smooth price discovery and real time reaction from the market the exchange will operate with standard market timings.

On account of presentation of the Union Budget members are requested to note that Exchange shall be conducting live trading session on February 01 2026 as per the standard market timings

MSEI Capital Market Trading Timings on February 1 2026

Below are the trading timings for the Capital Market segment on Budget day

  • Morning Block Deal Session from 08:45 AM to 09:00 AM
  • Pre Open Session from 09:00 AM to 09:15 AM
  • Normal Market Session from 09:15 AM to 03:30 PM
  • Afternoon Block Deal Session from 02:05 PM to 02:20 PM
  • Closing Session from 03:40 PM to 04:00 PM
  • Custodian and Client Code Modification till 04:15 PM

MSEI Equity Derivatives Trading Timings on Budget Day

For the Equity Derivatives segment MSEI has announced the following schedule

  • Pre Open Session from 09:00 AM to 09:08 AM
  • Normal Market Session from 09:15 AM to 03:30 PM
  • Trade Modification allowed till 04:15 PM

The exchange also noted that pre open sessions may have random closure in the last one minute.
