Indian Markets Extend Winning Streak to 8 Weeks; Pharma Leads Gains While Financials Weaken

Indian stock market has experienced gains for eight consecutive weeks, marking the longest winning streak in seven years.

On Friday, the Sensex and Nifty both saw gains, leading to a weekly increase of 1% each. The Midcap Index performed even better, rising by 3% over the week.

Despite the overall market gains, the financial sector lagged. The Nifty Bank Index fell by 2% this week.

Most indices ended the week on a positive note, with the exception of the financial and realty sectors. The Pharma Index emerged as the top performer.

Out of the 50 Nifty stocks, 38 posted positive returns. Tata Motors, HDFC Life, and Sun Pharma were among the top gainers.

Axis Bank, Wipro, Nestle India, and Bajaj Finserv were the biggest losers among Nifty stocks.

The majority of midcap stocks showed gains this week. Notable gainers included ICICI Prudential, Granules India, HPCL, and IDBI Bank.
