The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released the 33rd edition of Energy Statistics India 2026, reporting that India’s Total Primary Energy Supply (TPES) for 2024-25 was estimated at 39,055 Petajoules, up from 37,936 Petajoules in 2023-24.
The report also said India’s total renewable energy potential stood at 4,704,043 MW as of March 31, 2025, compared with 2,109,655 MW as of March 31, 2024.
The latest edition introduces several improvements, including the addition of statistics on credit flow to the energy sector, the international energy scenario, and international marine and aviation bunker data. It also aligns the end-use consuming sectors of all energy commodities with international standards.
MoSPI said the publication addresses data gaps related to industry-wise consumption of coal and electricity, improving the overall coverage of India’s energy statistics.
The ministry said Energy Statistics India 2026 is widely used by line ministries, states, and Union Territories for policy and infrastructure planning. The publication is also available in the public domain on the ministry’s website for research and analysis by stakeholders and other users.
