Elon Musk Forms New Political Party After Fallout with President Trump

Elon Musk has launched a new political party called the “America Party” following a major disagreement with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Once a close supporter and major donor to Trump’s 2024 campaign, Musk broke away after Trump signed a controversial domestic bill into law. Musk criticized the bill for adding trillions to the national debt and called it wasteful and damaging to the economy.

“We live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk wrote on X, his social media platform. “Today, the America Party is formed to give people their freedom back.”

President Trump fired back, saying Musk has gone “off the rails” and is now acting like a “train wreck.” He said third parties bring only “disruption and chaos” and have never succeeded in U.S. history.

Trump defended the bill, saying it gives Americans more freedom by removing the federal electric vehicle (EV) mandate. Under the new law, people can now choose between gas-powered cars, hybrids, or new technologies. Trump added that Musk had fully endorsed him, even though the president had made his anti-EV mandate stance clear throughout his campaign.

Trump also revealed Musk had requested one of his close friends be appointed to lead NASA, but the president declined due to a conflict of interest, since the agency works closely with Musk’s space ventures.

The fallout between Musk and Trump marks a new chapter in American politics, with Musk now aiming to challenge both major parties through his newly formed “America Party.”
