U.S. President Donald J. Trump recently stated that people who oppose tariffs are “fools,” claiming that tariffs are a major reason behind America’s strong economy. In a social media post, he said the United States is now the richest and most respected country in the world, with almost no inflation and record stock market levels.

Trump Highlights Economic Strength

According to Trump, the country is taking in trillions of dollars from tariffs and trade policies. He also mentioned that 401(k) retirement accounts are at their highest levels ever and that the stock market has reached new record highs. Trump said the U.S. government will soon start paying down its national debt, which he described as “enormous” at $37 trillion.

Focus on Investment and Job Growth

Trump added that there is record investment happening in the United States, with new factories and plants being built across the country. He suggested that these developments are a result of his trade and tariff policies, which aim to encourage manufacturing and economic growth inside the country.

Promise of a $2,000 Dividend

In his post, Trump also claimed that every American—excluding high-income individuals—would receive a dividend of at least $2,000 per person. However, this proposal has not been confirmed or backed by any official policy at this time.

Criticism of Trade Restrictions

In a follow-up post, Trump questioned the legality of trade restrictions, asking why the President is allowed to stop all trade with a foreign country but not impose tariffs for national security reasons. He called this situation “ridiculous” and against the intentions of America’s Founding Fathers.

Supreme Court and Fair Trade Concerns

Trump expressed frustration that the U.S. Supreme Court might limit presidential power on tariffs. He argued that other nations can impose tariffs on the United States, but America is restricted from doing the same. “Businesses are pouring into the USA only because of tariffs,” Trump wrote, suggesting tariffs are driving economic revival.
