U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to announce a new set of tariffs during a speech at the White House Rose Garden at 4:00 PM ET (8:00 PM GMT) on Wednesday. Experts believe these measures could shake up the current global trade system and lead to increased tensions between countries.
According to a White House official, these tariffs will be enforced immediately after Trump’s announcement. Additional 25% tariffs on cars, which were previously disclosed last week, are scheduled to begin on April 3. These new duties will add to earlier tariffs already in place on steel, aluminum, and Chinese products. However, many specifics are still being worked out by Trump’s team, as reported by Reuters.
