Trump Says: “We Don’t Need to Rush Trade Deals”

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the country is not in a hurry to sign new trade deals. He believes other countries need the U.S. more than the U.S. needs them.

At a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump looked annoyed when reporters kept asking him about trade deals.

“People keep asking, ‘How many deals are you signing?’” Trump said. “But we don’t need to chase deals. Other countries want to sell in our market because we have what they want.”

No Deals Yet, But Talks Are Going On

Trump and his team have said many times that talks are happening with several countries. But so far, no deal has been officially signed or announced.

Just a day before, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told a news channel that some deals were “very close.” Even Trump himself said on Sunday that some trade agreements might be announced soon. But now he says people on his team gave the wrong impression.

U.S. Wants Better Terms, Not Fast Deals

Trump explained that it’s not just about signing deals quickly. It’s more important to make sure the deals are good for America.

“Think of America like a luxury store,” Trump said. “We sell top-quality products, and we decide how people can buy them.”

He also said that deals will be signed, but only when the time is right.

Stock Market Falls Slightly

After Trump’s comments, U.S. stock markets went down a little. Investors and business people are getting worried because they want the government to make trade agreements soon.

Countries like Japan, India, and South Korea are important for U.S. trade. Many people believe deals with them can help the U.S. economy, especially because of the problems caused by tariffs and slowdowns in global trade.

Still, Trump’s team says deals are “coming soon,” but they haven’t given any exact dates.

Summary

President Trump is saying: Don’t expect fast trade deals. The U.S. is strong and can wait for the right offers. But investors are hoping the government signs deals soon to keep the economy strong.
