Trump Says India Offered Zero-Tariff Trade Deal

US President Donald Trump said in Qatar, during a meeting with business leaders, that India has offered to remove all tariffs on American goods.

President Trump says India has offered a trade deal with zero tariffs. Both countries are working to reach an agreement during the 90-day pause on new tariffs. This includes the 26% tariff on Indian goods announced by Trump in April, which is now on hold.

India’s Trade Minister, Piyush Goyal, will visit the U.S. on May 16 to lead the trade talks. The goal is to finalize the deal within the 90-day window. Both nations aim to boost trade, with a target of $500 billion by 2030.

US president mentioned that he talked to Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, asking him not to increase manufacturing in India. Trump said, “I told him I don’t want you to make products in India.” Because of this talk, Trump said Apple will increase its production inside the United States instead.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for more updates.
