U.S. President Donald J. Trump said that Iran and Israel should work toward a peace deal, expressing confidence that such a breakthrough is possible.
In a detailed statement, President Trump said,
> “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make.”
He added that he used U.S. trade ties to bring both countries to the table, emphasizing the importance of reason and leadership in preventing conflict.
The President also highlighted other international disputes where he believes his leadership helped avoid war.
> “During my first term, Serbia and Kosovo were going at it hot and heavy… and this long-time conflict was ready to break out into war. I stopped it,” Trump stated.
He also referred to the Nile River dispute between Egypt and Ethiopia over a major dam project, claiming that peace has been maintained so far due to his diplomatic efforts.Trump expressed confidence that similar peace can be achieved in the Middle East.
