U.S. President Donald J. Trump has claimed that the American movie industry is “dying a very fast death.” In a statement shared online, Trump said that other countries are offering attractive incentives to pull filmmakers and studios away from the United States, which is hurting Hollywood and other parts of the U.S. entertainment industry.

Trump described this trend as a “concerted effort by other Nations” and called it a “National Security threat.” He also accused foreign countries of using movies for “messaging and propaganda.

“To address the issue, Trump announced that he is authorizing the Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to start the process of placing a 100% tariff on all movies produced in foreign countries that are imported into the U.S.

He ended his message with a strong call to action: “WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”
