Trump Says Fed Should Cut Rates Again Ahead of Key Decision

U.S. President Donald Trump has again called on the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates. In a post on social media, Trump said that gasoline prices have dropped to $1.98 per gallon, groceries and energy costs are down, and employment is strong.

He claimed that the U.S. economy is in a “transition stage” with prices falling and billions of dollars coming in from tariffs. Trump added, “NO INFLATION, THE FED SHOULD LOWER ITS RATE!!!”

The Federal Reserve is set to announce its next interest rate decision on Wednesday, May 7th. Many investors and analysts are watching closely to see if the Fed will keep rates steady or begin to cut them to support the economy.

Lower interest rates can help make borrowing cheaper, which can boost consumer spending and business investment. However, the Fed also watches inflation closely before making any changes.

Trump has regularly criticized the Fed in the past, urging it to keep rates low to help the U.S. economy grow.
