President Trump Says His Relationship with Elon Musk Is “Over,” Warns of Consequences If Musk Backs Democrats

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that his relationship with billionaire Elon Musk has come to an end. In an interview with NBC News on Saturday, President Trump said, “I would assume so, yeah,” when asked if he was still in contact with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

The fallout appears to stem from political tensions. Trump warned there would be “serious consequences” if Musk chooses to fund Democratic candidates, particularly those running against Republicans who support Trump’s major tax-cut bill. However, he declined to specify what those consequences might be.

“I have more serious things to do than talk to Elon,” President Trump added, clearly dismissing any chance of reconciliation.

According to The Washington Post, Trump also privately referred to Musk as a “big-time drug addict,” a claim fueled by concerns over Musk’s alleged substance use reported in the media. White House officials confirmed that these concerns contributed to the breakdown in their relationship.

Responding to Musk’s recent comments about the Epstein list, Trump told NBC News: “That’s old news. Even Epstein’s lawyer said I had nothing to do with it. It’s been talked about for years.”

Trump also made personal remarks about Musk, saying, “I think it’s a shame that he’s so depressed and so heartbroken,” before reiterating, “I’m too busy doing other things. I have no intention of speaking to him.”

This rift between the sitting U.S. President and one of the world’s most influential tech entrepreneurs could have significant political and business implications in the months ahead.
