U.S. President Donald Trump announced today that he is actively working to stop the ongoing war between Thailand and Cambodia. In a statement posted on Truth Social, President Trump said he personally spoke with the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand to urge both sides to agree to an immediate ceasefire.

Trump said the war is causing many deaths and must end quickly. “I just spoke to the Prime Minister of Cambodia about stopping the war with Thailand,” the President wrote. “I’m now calling the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand to request a ceasefire and an end to this conflict, which is currently raging.”
The President added that the U.S. is in the middle of trade talks with both countries, but those discussions will not move forward if the war continues. “We don’t want to make any deals with countries that are fighting each other,” he said.
After his conversation with the Thai leader, Trump said both Thailand and Cambodia agreed they want peace. He now plans to call the Cambodian Prime Minister again to move talks forward.
“This reminds me of the India-Pakistan conflict, which we helped end peacefully,” Trump added. “Now, after speaking to both parties, a ceasefire, peace, and prosperity seem like the natural next steps. We will soon see!”

The White House has not released further details, but officials say diplomatic efforts are underway to de-escalate the situation. No official ceasefire has been confirmed yet, but both sides appear open to dialogue.
