President Trump Finalizes Major Trade Deal with South Korea: Key Highlights

Full Trade Deal Announced

President Donald J. Trump has officially confirmed that the United States has signed a Full and Complete Trade Deal with South Korea. This agreement strengthens economic ties between the two nations and brings major investment and trade benefits to both sides.

$350 Billion Investment from South Korea

Under the agreement, South Korea will invest $350 billion in the United States. These investments will be in projects owned and controlled by the U.S. government, personally selected by President Trump. This move is expected to support American infrastructure, job creation, and innovation.

$100 Billion in Energy Purchases

South Korea has also agreed to purchase $100 billion worth of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other energy products from the U.S. This commitment will boost the American energy industry and deepen energy cooperation between the two countries.

U.S. Market Access Improved

As part of the deal, South Korea will allow American products—such as cars, trucks, and agricultural goods—into their market without any import duties. This opens new opportunities for U.S. businesses and farmers to expand their exports to Asia.

Tariff Agreement Reached

The U.S. and South Korea have agreed on a 15% tariff for South Korean imports. This avoids the previously planned 25% tariff, which would have taken effect if no deal was signed by August 1. Importantly, U.S. products entering South Korea will face no tariffs under this agreement.

Meeting with South Korean President Planned

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is expected to visit the White House within two weeks to meet with President Trump. During this meeting, both sides will announce further details about the investment plans and deepen their economic partnership.

Strengthening U.S.–South Korea Ties

President Trump congratulated President Lee on his recent election victory and praised the cooperation between the two countries. He also thanked the trade representatives from both sides who helped make this agreement possible, calling it a win-win deal and a sign of South Korea’s growing success.
