The National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed FY25 with a total market capitalisation of Rs 410.87 lakh crore ($4.81 trillion), up 6.94% from Rs 384.2 lakh crore ($4.61 trillion) in FY24. As of March 31, 2025, the exchange had 2,720 listed companies. The SME platform, NSE Emerge, also recorded strong growth — its market value surged 50% year-on-year to Rs 1.8 lakh crore ($20.8 billion). During the same period, 242 companies launched IPOs across Mainboard and Emerge, collectively raising Rs 1.7 lakh crore.
Investor participation also expanded steadily. By March 28, 2025, the NSE had 11.3 crore unique registered investors and 21.94 crore unique demat accounts. Of these, 2.09 crore new investors joined during FY25 alone, reflecting growing interest in equities and broader financial market participation.
