India Sets Up Global Tariff and Trade Helpdesk to Support Exporters Amid Rising Import Pressures

India is launching a “Global Tariff and Trade Helpdesk” to tackle the growing impact of shifting global trade dynamics. A government notice states that the country is facing increased import pressure from certain nations and specific product categories due to ongoing global tariff and counter-tariff actions. This surge has created challenges for Indian industries, especially those heavily dependent on exports and vulnerable to trade-related disruptions.

The newly proposed helpdesk will act as a support center for exporters, offering assistance on financial and banking issues, as well as helping navigate complex regulatory and compliance requirements. The initiative aims to ensure that Indian exporters are better prepared to deal with sudden tariff changes, trade policy shifts, and rising import competition, thereby strengthening India’s global trade resilience.
