The Indian government said the U.S. has paused tariffs on Indian goods for 90 days, which is a big help for exporters, especially those selling shrimp. This comes as the U.S. continues to impose very high tariffs on Chinese products. India believes its trade outlook is still linked to U.S.-China tensions.
To protect local industries, a panel has been set up to monitor imports and detect unfair pricing by foreign sellers.India also reported record-high exports of goods and services worth over $820 billion in 2024–25, marking nearly 6% growth from last year.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed hope that the India-UK trade deal will be finalized soon and said the government is focusing on boosting domestic demand to support economic recovery.
