India and China Agree to Strengthen Ties and Resume Air Services

In a recent meeting between India’s Foreign Secretary and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, both countries agreed to work on rebuilding and stabilizing bilateral relations. The focus of the discussions was on promoting people-centric engagement and restoring key diplomatic and travel links.

According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), both sides expressed commitment to improving communication and cooperation. They discussed speeding up the process of restarting direct air services between the two countries, which have been suspended since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Indian Foreign Secretary expressed hope that the two nations can soon finalize an updated Air Services Agreement, which would allow more direct flights and better connectivity for citizens and businesses.

Additionally, India and China agreed to hold functional-level dialogues aimed at resolving specific issues of concern. These talks will focus on areas where practical cooperation can help reduce misunderstandings and strengthen ties.

The meeting reflects a mutual effort to improve relations after years of tension. By focusing on practical steps like restoring air connectivity and promoting people-to-people interaction, both nations are signaling a willingness to move forward diplomatically.
