Elon Musk Steps Back from White House Role, Will Continue Advising Remotely

Elon Musk is no longer working regularly from the White House, according to a report by the New York Post. Musk had been serving as an unpaid special government employee at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), located near the Oval Office.

Although Musk’s physical presence at the White House has reduced, officials say he remains in close contact with the administration. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles confirmed that communication with Musk now mostly happens over the phone.

Musk’s influence on President Donald Trump’s administration is still considered strong. His team continues to operate from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which is next to the West Wing.

It’s not clear how often Musk will return to the White House before his official advisory role ends in late May. After that, he is expected to continue offering informal advice.
