President Donald Trump is preparing to introduce new tariff rules for countries that trade with the U.S. in the coming weeks. According to Bloomberg, he acknowledged that his administration doesn’t have enough capacity to strike separate trade deals with each partner.
Speaking on Friday, Trump said that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick will be sending official letters to many nations. These letters will outline what each country will be charged to do business in the U.S.
“We’ll be fair,” Trump said during a meeting with business leaders in the United Arab Emirates, “but we can’t handle everyone at once.”
He added that around 150 countries are eager to make trade deals with the U.S., but didn’t give details about how many will receive these letters or which ones.
