In a strongly worded statement, US President Donald Trump criticized the legal actions being taken against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling them a “political witch hunt.” Trump praised Netanyahu as a “war hero” and commended his past cooperation with the United States, particularly in addressing the nuclear threat from Iran.
Trump expressed concern that Netanyahu is being forced to spend time in court over what he described as trivial matters, such as “cigars” and a “Bugs Bunny doll.” He argued that these proceedings are politically motivated and resemble the investigations he himself faced while in office.
Highlighting ongoing hostage negotiations with Hamas, Trump warned that dragging Netanyahu through court during such a critical time could interfere with peace talks and regional stability. He called the situation “insanity” and blamed “out-of-control prosecutors” for jeopardizing international efforts.
Trump also emphasized the United States’ financial and military support for Israel, saying, “We are not going to stand for this.” He concluded his message by urging for Netanyahu’s release from legal distractions, stating, “Let Bibi go, he’s got a big job to do!”
