Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the construction of all five Made-in-India chip manufacturing units is going on smoothly, and they are on track to launch by the end of the year.
He also said India has one of the best talent pools in the world. The country’s model for giving wider access to GPUs (Graphic Processing Units) has been praised by many. So far, 14,000 GPUs have been onboarded, and more are being added.Vaishnaw stated that India is not behind in the AI race. In fact, the country is actively competing and will soon be among the top nations using the power of AI effectively.
He also warned that bias in AI can be very harmful and must be handled carefully. Unlike Western countries, which followed a strict top-down approach to AI regulation, India chose a consultative process.
He added that the government received 35,000 suggestions from different stakeholders while drafting AI policies. A similar method is now being used to prepare the rules, and the draft should be ready soon.
