Apple's 2024 'It’s Glow Time' Event: Unveiling iPhone 16 Series, Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, and More

Apple is hosting its highly anticipated annual event on Monday, September 9, with the tagline ‘It’s Glow Time.’ The event will take place at the iconic Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, and is expected to unveil the latest products, including the iPhone 16 series, the next generation of Apple Watch, and AirPods.

When and Where to Watch?
Unlike previous years when Apple usually held its events on a Tuesday, this year it will take place on Monday. The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT in the U.S., and in India, viewers can catch the live stream at 10:30 p.m. IST. The event will be streamed live on Apple’s official YouTube channel, website, and Apple TV app.

iPhone 16 Series
The launch of the iPhone 16 series is expected to be the highlight of the event. Apple is likely to introduce four models in new color options, though exact details remain under wraps. However, there is speculation about major upgrades in camera technology, display, and processing power.

Along with the iPhone 16 series, Apple is expected to announce the release date of iOS 18, which was initially unveiled at the WWDC event in June. The new operating system is likely to debut alongside the latest iPhones.

Apple Watch Series 10
Apple is expected to reveal the Apple Watch Series 10 with significant upgrades. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new watch will come in 45mm and 49mm screen sizes with a more durable design, thanks to the use of resin-coated copper for internal components.

However, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, features like hypertension and sleep apnea detection may not be included due to technical challenges.

Apple Watch Ultra 3
The third-generation Apple Watch Ultra is not expected to feature major hardware upgrades. It will retain the same look and feel as last year’s model but come with a better chip, laying the foundation for future AI capabilities.

Apple Watch SE 3
The third-generation Apple Watch SE is likely to be available in 41mm and 45mm case sizes with an upgraded, more durable plastic body. It is expected to be more affordable and durable, particularly aimed at kids.

AirPods 4
Apple may also introduce the fourth generation of AirPods. According to Bloomberg’s Gurman, the new AirPods will come with a USB-C port, better fit, and improved audio quality. Active noise cancellation will be available at a lower price point for the first time, with premium models featuring additional features such as a speaker in the charging case for ‘Find My Location’ tracking.

New Accessories and Software Updates
Apple usually introduces new iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands, which are expected to be available for purchase immediately after the event. The company is also expected to announce the release dates for iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, and tvOS 18. These software updates have already undergone beta testing and may be available shortly after the event.

Focus of the Event
The event will primarily focus on the new iPhones and wearables. Apple is also expected to hold a second event in October, typically focusing on Mac and iPad launches. However, since the iPad event already took place in May 2024, announcements related to iPads might be limited this time around.

With the spotlight on the iPhone 16 series, Apple Watch, and AirPods, today’s event promises exciting updates for Apple fans worldwide.

$AAPL UNLIKELY TO SEE ‘SUPER CYCLE’ FOR IPHONE 16 ORDERS

Mark Gurman thinks that delays in Apple’s AI features, such as Image Playground and Genmoji (coming in iOS 18.2), mean the iPhone 16 won’t lead to a big surge in upgrades.

On top of that, economic challenges and a design similar to last year’s models may lower expectations. Since the AI features will be released slowly, customers might wait for future models to get the best features, reducing demand for the iPhone 16.

Apple’s iPhone 16, launching Monday, will feature the A18 chip with Arm’s V9 architecture, boosting AI capabilities for Siri, custom emojis, and photo editing. The chip also powers Apple’s M4 MacBook. Investors await more AI updates at the event. Source: FT
