India’s AMFI mutual fund industry continued to expand in April 2026 with total Assets Under Management rising to Rs 81.92 lakh crore. Average monthly AUM stood at Rs 81.94 lakh crore, while the industry recorded net inflows of Rs 3.22 lakh crore across 1,941 schemes and 27.53 crore folios.

Open ended schemes remained the largest segment with 1,868 schemes and 27.48 crore folios. Total AUM under open ended schemes stood at Rs 81.71 lakh crore, while average monthly AUM came at Rs 81.71 lakh crore. Net inflows into open ended funds were Rs 3.26 lakh crore during April.

Equity mutual funds saw net inflows of Rs 38,440 crore. Total equity AUM rose to Rs 35.74 lakh crore, while average monthly AUM stood at Rs 34.89 lakh crore across 568 schemes and 18.41 crore folios.

Flexi Cap Funds led equity inflows with Rs 10,148 crore. Small Cap Funds received Rs 6,885 crore, Mid Cap Funds added Rs 6,551 crore, Large & Mid Cap Funds saw inflows of Rs 4,490 crore, and Large Cap Funds attracted Rs 2,524 crore. Multi Cap Funds received Rs 3,806 crore.

Focused Funds recorded inflows of Rs 1,194 crore, Value and Contra Funds received Rs 1,478 crore, while Dividend Yield Funds saw outflows of Rs 21 crore. ELSS funds recorded outflows of Rs 567 crore during the month.

Sectoral and thematic funds attracted Rs 1,949 crore in inflows. Total assets in the category climbed to Rs 5.30 lakh crore, while average monthly AUM stood at Rs 5.17 lakh crore across 250 schemes and 3.23 crore folios.

Debt mutual funds witnessed strong inflows of Rs 2.47 lakh crore. Liquid Funds led with Rs 1.65 lakh crore inflows, followed by Overnight Funds at Rs 31,420 crore and Money Market Funds at Rs 20,642 crore. Corporate Bond Funds added Rs 6,196 crore and Ultra Short Duration Funds saw inflows of Rs 15,652 crore.

Low Duration Funds attracted Rs 7,093 crore, Credit Risk Funds added Rs 1,318 crore, while Floater Funds saw Rs 19 crore inflows. Medium Duration Funds recorded outflows of Rs 392 crore, Long Duration Funds saw outflows of Rs 728 crore, and Dynamic Bond Funds reported outflows of Rs 705 crore.

Hybrid schemes received net inflows of Rs 20,565 crore with total AUM rising to Rs 11.05 lakh crore across 182 schemes and 1.92 crore folios. Arbitrage Funds attracted Rs 12,378 crore, Multi Asset Allocation Funds received Rs 5,113 crore, Balanced Hybrid Funds added Rs 1,489 crore, and Dynamic Asset Allocation Funds saw inflows of Rs 1,773 crore.

Other schemes category also remained strong. Index Funds recorded inflows of Rs 4,626 crore, Gold ETFs added Rs 3,040 crore, and Other ETFs saw inflows of Rs 10,755 crore. Total AUM of Gold ETFs rose to Rs 1.78 lakh crore, while Other ETFs managed Rs 9.64 lakh crore in assets.

Solution oriented schemes including Retirement Funds and Children’s Funds received net inflows of Rs 307 crore. Total AUM under this category stood at Rs 57,615 crore across 41 schemes.

Closed ended schemes recorded net outflows of Rs 4,481 crore with total AUM at Rs 20,850 crore. Interval schemes remained small with only 2 schemes managing assets of Rs 27 crore.

AMFI also reported 11 new mutual fund launches during April 2026 which mobilised Rs 828 crore. JioBlackRock Large Cap Fund collected Rs 30 crore, while Groww Arbitrage Fund mobilised Rs 41 crore.

Index fund launches dominated the month with 9 new schemes raising Rs 757 crore. SBI CRISIL IBX Financial Services 3-6 Months Debt Index Fund collected Rs 237 crore, SBI CRISIL IBX Financial Services 9-12 Months Debt Index Fund raised Rs 206 crore, Axis Nifty India Defence Index Fund mobilised Rs 223 crore, Edelweiss Nifty LargeMidcap250 Plus 8-13 Yr G-Sec 70:30 Index Fund mobilised Rs 35 crore, and Choice Nifty 50 Index Fund raised Rs 19 crore.
