Japan's current account deficit with rising imports and a weak yen

Japan’s current account turned negative for the first time in two years, driven by a weaker yen and a surge in imports ahead of the Lunar New Year. While exports grew modestly, rising import costs widened the trade deficit. However, strong foreign investment income and a tourism boom provided some economic relief.
