Elon Musk, Suggested the possibility of introducing XMail, a potential competitor to Google's Gmail

Gemini AI, introduced two months ago to compete with OpenAI’s GPT model (which powers ChatGPT), faced backlash for producing historically inaccurate and biased images. For example, when asked to create images of Vikings, it only showed Black people in traditional Viking attire. Similarly, requests for images of the pope resulted in images of individuals of non-white ethnicities.

Acknowledging the problem, Google admitted that Gemini AI didn’t meet expectations and paused its ability to generate images of people until fixes are made. Some critics saw this as evidence of anti-white bias in the tech industry, but experts point out the limitations of AI systems like Gemini. Gary Marcus, a psychology professor at New York University, called it “bad software.”

Musk’s potential entry into the email service market with XMail could shake up Google’s dominance, but it’s uncertain how it will perform and whether it will tackle the ethical issues seen in AI technology like Gemini AI.
